History of the UW Intern
The development of the intern program with UW began in 2000. As the number of churches interested in hosting a sports camp grew, the UW staff saw the need to bring on summer interns to help facilitate the growth. In 2000, the "Fab 8", as they are now called, helped lead the camps and were so successful that the thought of more churches and more interns became a possibility.
In 2001, the number of interns doubled to 16. Between 2001 and 2002, the biggest increase occured as 40 interns came on staff for the summer. From there, the summer program has continued to grow and now UW ministers to over 150 churches with the help of over 50 interns. In the summer of 2007, there were twelve teams of interns that worked with these churches to help reach more kids for Christ.
